MEET ANNA

photographer / jewelry artist / model / horse woman

I'm a photographer, horse woman, jewelry artist and model who moved from Sweden to British Columbia, Canada, 13 years ago to pursue a life based in the vast and powerful Coastal Mountains. Today I live on my own mountain side farm here in Pemberton with my husband, 3 horses, cat and rescue dogs

In October 2008 my photo blog was nominated "best photo blog" in one of Sweden's biggest blog awards. This was the stage that I slowly began realizing people's appreciation in my style of photography. This award pushed me to work even harder at my passion. After completing a few different photography courses I decided that I was ready to bring my photography skills to another level. Today my foremost intention is working with intimate powerful portraits and lifestyle images. I love to portray women and to be able to empower them through the way I capture their photos. I also focus on creative story telling and brand photography. I truly love working with natural light to create the perfect emotional light, and I find black and white photography very intriguing because it encourage the photographer to put more emphasis on composition, expression, patterns and texture. I am deeply inspired by wilderness, horses, women’s natural beauty, and timeless fashion photography. I have always seen the world through photos, that’s the way my brain works

“My goal is to help women see their natural beauty and fall in love with themselves. I want women to feel empowered and understand how beautiful, powerful and sexy they really are”

I grew up on the countryside, in a small farm community, in Sweden. Animals and the outdoors have always a natural part of my life. I started riding at a very young age and have always had a dog by my side. I am Sámi on my mother's side, Sámi is the indigenous people of Northern Europe, and they have a very close connection to nature and animals. I have only spent a few of my 38 years living in smaller cities, but that lifestyle isn’t for me. The further out on the countryside the better. I grew up with the English riding culture, as the western ways hadn’t yet spread out in Sweden at that time. However, after moving to Canada in 2010 I met some inspiring cowboy mentors and decided to switch over and haven’t looked back once. Today I'm deep into learning and studying horsemanship and I’m also practising my roping skills and garrocha riding

In February 2016 I started my jewelry business Simply Sámi. I design and hand make traditional Sámi reindeer jewelry, mainly bracelets. My aim is to fuse old Sámi traditions with contemporary style. My Sámi jewelry line is a way for the modern man and woman to celebrate Nordic indigenous handcraft while standing up for sustainable fashion and self empowerment. The handcraft has been brought down to my from older family members and it is my way to honour my family’s old indigenous nordic Sámi roots and Sámi identity. I feel a great pride to have the opportunity to spread my passion for this ancient handcraft to the rest of the world as well as spreading knowledge about, and speak up for, Sámi people, our sacred land and planet. I also strongly believes in timeless, conscious, and sustainable fashion, which is something that my jewelry represent. Sustainability is the Sámi foundation, culture and everyone’s future. I have also combined my love for horses and my jewelry by offering horsehair keepsake jewelry. Bracelets and hatbands. Horse lovers and owners from all over the world ship me horsehair from their heart horse and I make them a very special bracelet. It’s such an honour and it means so much to make this for them

I have been modelling on and off since my early twenties. I’ve done everything from studio fashion shoots, lifestyle fashion shoots, riding and horse related shoots for magazines, some catwalks, and active wear modelling. Today I mainly work with lifestyle fashion, fitness and active wear modelling, as well as some action modelling (mostly horseback riding, skiing, yoga, running, and hiking)
